How Concrete Raising Works
What is concrete leveling?
Concrete leveling is a way to raise sunken or uneven concrete without tearing it out and pouring new concrete. The Concrete Team uses lifting methods to fill voids under the slab and bring the concrete closer to its proper position. What is the difference between mudjacking and poly lifting?
Mudjacking uses a grout-like material to lift and support settled concrete. The material is pumped beneath the slab to fill voids, stabilize the area, and raise the concrete back toward level.
Poly lifting is another concrete leveling method, but The Concrete Team does not currently offer it. Our concrete raising work is focused on proven mudjacking / slabjacking solutions.

How do you know where to lift the concrete?
We look at the settled slab, nearby joints, cracks, slope, drainage, and the areas where the concrete has lost support. From there, we choose the best injection points to help raise and stabilize the slab. This is part of why an experienced evaluation matters. Can concrete leveling fix all sunken concrete?
Not always. Concrete leveling works best when the slab is still in solid condition. If the concrete is badly broken, crumbling, or severely damaged, replacement may be a better option. Will the holes be patched after the concrete is lifted?
Yes. After the lifting work is complete, the drilled holes are patched. The patches may be visible, but they are much smaller than removing and replacing large areas of concrete. If the surface also needs cosmetic repair, concrete resurfacing may be an option in some cases.

The cost depends on the size of the area, how much the concrete has settled, how many slabs need work, and how much lifting material is needed. Do I need to be home for an estimate?
No, not always. If the work area is easy to access, The Concrete Team can often review the problem without you being home. Photos can also help us understand what is going on before we visit. Can I send photos for a quote?

How long does a concrete lifting project take?

What To Expect During Your Project
What happens before the work begins?
Before the project begins, The Concrete Team reviews the problem area and explains what needs to be done. We look at the settled concrete, cracks, joints, drainage, and access. Do I need to prepare the area?
Yes, a little preparation helps. Please move vehicles, patio furniture, planters, toys, or other items away from the work area. Will the work be messy?
Concrete lifting is usually much less disruptive than tearing out and replacing concrete. There will be drilling, lifting material, patching, and cleanup, but the goal is to leave the area neat when the work is done. How soon can I use the concrete after lifting?
That depends on the lifting method, the project, and the surface being repaired. Many lifted areas can be used sooner than newly poured concrete, but our team will tell you what is safe for your specific project before we leave. What if water caused the concrete to sink?

Can you fix sidewalk trip hazards?
Yes. Uneven sidewalk slabs are one of the most common concrete problems we help fix. Lifting can reduce trip hazards and help make the walkway safer without replacing the whole section. Can you fix a driveway that has sunk near the garage?

Can you lift garage floors?

Can you help with cracked concrete too?

Raising Concrete Instead of Replacing It
Is concrete lifting better than replacement?
Concrete lifting can be a better option when the slab is still in good condition but has settled. It avoids demolition, reduces mess, and can often be completed faster than replacement. When should concrete be replaced instead of lifted?
Concrete may need replacement if it is broken into many pieces, badly spalled, crumbling, or too thin to lift safely. If the slab is mostly solid but uneven, lifting may still be possible. If the surface is worn but the slab is stable, Concrete Resurfacing may also be worth reviewing.
Why not just pour new concrete over the old slab?
Pouring new concrete over a sunken slab does not always solve the real problem. If there are voids, weak soil, or drainage problems underneath, the new layer may crack or settle too. Can lifting help prevent more damage?
Yes, lifting can help stabilize a settled slab by filling voids underneath and reducing movement. It can also help improve drainage and reduce trip hazards. If cracks or open joints are letting water under the slab, Joint Sealing / Caulking may also help protect the repair.
Will new concrete match my old concrete?
New concrete often does not match older concrete in color, finish, or texture. This is one reason many customers prefer lifting when the existing slab is still usable. Do you offer poly lifting?
Not at this time. The Concrete Team currently specializes in mudjacking, also called slabjacking, for concrete lifting and leveling. We may consider adding poly lifting in the future, but for now our concrete raising work is focused on proven mudjacking solutions. Do you only do residential concrete leveling?
No. The Concrete Team provides residential and commercial concrete lifting services.
